VG Offshore Containers International Sdn Bhd was this month, accorded the honour of being the first company in Malaysia to be a full member of the Lifting Equipment Engineers Association (LEEA), a reputable and highly respected global authoritative body that represents all those involved in the lifting industry worldwide. LEEA is actively involved in all aspects of the industry, promoting the highest technical and safety standards and offering a wide range of services and support to their Members worldwide.
The award of full membership to VG Offshore Containers International Sdn Bhd represents a notable milestone for the Malaysian lifting industry, as there are only 222 full members out of a total more than 800 members worldwide. The company was first audited in March 2016 and was admitted as a development member in the following month of April and finally a full member in January 2017.
“We are proud to be awarded this coveted full membership as there are only nine other companies in Malaysia who are members of LEEA as either associate, development or provisional members. This full membership award recognizes our capabilities and expertise in the lifting field. It further enhances our reputation as a manufacturer who puts a great deal of effort to ensure the highest quality and safety standards in our manufacturing process. This is reflected in our ongoing and continuous process of upgrading of our machinery, tools and also our people. In fact two of our key persons in our management team hold diplomas in offshore containers engineering,” said Arvin Menon, the Managing Director of VG Offshore Containers International Sdn Bhd.
VG Offshore Containers International is Malaysia’s largest manufacturer of DNV certifieds custom-built offshore containers for the oil and gas industry worldwide. The company also manufactures container based mobile hospitals, disaster zone shelters and multi-purpose containers for the military.
The Lifting Equipment Engineers Association has played a key role in this specialised field for over seventy years, from training and standards setting through to health and safety, the provision of technical and legal advice, and the development of examination and licensing systems.
The Association represents members at the highest levels across a range of both public and private bodies, including various government departments, as well as nationally and internationally recognised professional and technical institutions.
LEEA is ISO 9001:2008 registered and an Associate Member of DROPS (Dropped Objects Prevention Scheme).
